World Interfaith Harmony Week is upon us again and this year Mindworks Publishing will be commemorating the week through efforts inspired by our interfaith publication, The Muslimah Speaks: Her Voice, Her Spirit.

The Muslimah Speaks: Her Voice, Her Spirit is a poetry anthology  that includes poems from various female Muslim poets, short narratives about historical Muslimah role models, and beautiful quotes from the Qur’an and the Bible. Insha’Allah for World Interfaith Harmony Week 2016, observed from February 1-7, we want to use the poetry project to facilitate Muslim women to build Muslim-Christian relations through writing poems.

We are opening poetry submissions in the following three categories insha’Allah:

A) A poem about Maryam, mother of ‘Isa AS, and role model to Muslim and Christian women.
Priority will be given to personal reflections, interactions with her influence, and stories about her value to you – whilst valuing the harmonies between her Christian and Muslim legacies.
Willingness to perform your poem as an audio or video is favourable.

B) A poem written and performed in collaboration with a female Christian poet, or with a mixed group of Muslims and Christians, which is inspired by the line ‘why we are good for each other’, and may or may not include those words.
Willingness to perform your poem as an audio or video is favourable.

C) A creative-response-poem to both a poem by a contemporary or historical female Muslim poet and a contemporary or historical female Christian poet.
The poems that inspire your response can be about any themes; your poem should be either directly or indirectly related to interfaith harmony. Poetic responses to only one poem will also be considered, but with less priority than responses to two poems.
Willingness to perform your poem as an audio or video is favourable.

Insha’Allah we look forward to reading, viewing, and hearing about the poetic interfaith harmony you create! (We are not expecting masterpieces – this project is more about process than about product so be sure to talk about your process in your cover letter and to state whether or not you can record a video/audio within January insha’Allah.)

Please paste your submission into an email – with a cover letter – to tmspoetrysubmissions@gmail.com.

Submissions will close Tuesday January 5, 2016 insha’Allah.
