Religious Rhyme Time! Nursery Rhymes About Early Believers is a new release from Mindworks Publishing that was developed when author Elizabeth Lymer decided that she wanted to use historical nursery rhymes with her children about events relevant to nurturing belief in, and worship of, God. This volume is the first of a series of books entitled Early Believers: Abrahamic Children’s Books for Jews, Christians, Muslims and Global Citizens, and is a collection of nursery rhymes designed with a vision of facilitating harmony, mutual support, and connection between diverse Abrahamic families and friends.
Sister Elizabeth shares:
“I wanted a repertoire of religious rhymes that my Christian parents and I could enjoy with their Muslim and Christian grandchildren.”
As a convert to Islam with Christian parents, I can also relate to the desire to create an area of common ground for nurturing family relationships. I have thus discovered over the years that the Quranic verse concerning Muslims and Christians is quite true.
The Yusuf Ali Translation of Surah Al Maeda 5:82 reads:
Strongest among men in enmity to the believers wilt thou find the Jews and Pagans; and nearest among them in love to the believers wilt thou find those who say, “We are christians”: because amongst these are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world, and they are not arrogant.
In support of these similarities and with the intention of nurturing better relationships with global citizens, Mindworks Publishing is offering a special book bundle and tote bag to commemorate The World Interfaith Harmony Week. The World Interfaith Harmony Week is based on The Common Word initiative which called for Muslim and Christian leaders to engage in a dialogue based on two common fundamental religious Commandments; Love of God, and Love of the Neighbour, without nevertheless compromising any of their own religious tenets.
The first week of February will be observed as a World Interfaith Harmony Week and Mindworks Publishing will be offering Religious Rhyme Time! Nursery Rhymes About Early Believers, Let’s Learn Our Religion!, and You Are Beautiful as part of the book bundle and tote package. In addition, you can visit the Mindworks Publishing YouTube Channel for poetry videos that will be released for World Interfaith Harmony Week.
Elizabeth Lymer specializes in informal, interactive early years education through rhymes and stories and she is a member of the Muslimah Writers Alliance. She is also the author of Islamic Nursery Rhymes published by Greenbird Publishing.
